Looking at a new work hack and a friend in the trade has a very tidy Kangoo van which i'm very tempted by... Would be the ideal size for my work needs (self employed decorator/builder/mender bloke) and although this is PH i thought id still ask the question...

Should i run away? Also what sort of MPG can i expect? it would never be fully laden if it makes any odds.

I worked a summer at a place that had two pool cars - a lovely old Audi 90 20V, and a very tired Kangoo. After the initial novelty of the Audi had worn off, I chose to take the Kangoo every time! I'm not really sure why, it had some kind of character, like an old pair of battered socks which you just can't throw away.

We had a Scenic 1.9 Diesel which I'm guessing is the same engine and similar size. It was great - never let us down and would travel to the end of the earth and back on a fivers worth of diesel. What more could you ask for? (except maybe a bit of performance...)

Just run a few figures and on the last trip we did in it, it managed just over 40mpg. Doesn't sound too impressive for a diesel, but we did over 95 leptops for 500 miles...

My family have one over in Italy for lugging stock to and from their little shop... It's donkeys years old, completely beat up and abused yet still keeps on going no matter what. French reliability eh?!
