Not sure where best to put this, so it's going in the lounge where I expect the most abuse.

I had booked my theory test for today so I was in bed nice and early last night, had my paper round covered this morning so I could get a lie in and got my dad to drive me all the way over to Clydebank for it. Only when I got there the bloke at the desk couldn't find my name on any of his lists. I gave him my appointment letter to prove that I had a test booked and he promptly informed me that the date of the test was the 9th of July, in two weeks time. In two weeks of scrutinising the details letter neither me, nor my mum, nor my dad had noticed the date. I am an utter pillock and need some abuse to make me feel better.

silly

/Awaits cool story bro.

I turned up a week early to a job interview once.

Bless their cotton socks, once they'd stopped laughing at my stupidity, they organised an impromptu interview.

I didn't get the job.

Better than being 2 weeks late I suppose. And you know where the test centre is now.

Nope. Purchasing position for a Local Government organisation - one I'd dealt with extensively in a previous job and knew most of the people there.

As is happens, I drove past their premises about a year later and it was all closed down.

Just as well, really.

How/Why did you think the test was today?

I would assume you apply for the test, they send you a letter confirming the date of the test (9th July)?

Where did you get 25th June from?

Anyway, apart from turning up on the wrong day, what did they think of your juggling?

you have a paper round at 17 (or older)? I know you see adults delivering papers but I always assume them to be a bit special...

I would never criticise someone for getting a job and getting on with life. Maybe he should turn to crime and/or benefits to preserve his "image"....

Am i right in thinking you can go for the theory test at 16, providing you have a provisional license.if he lives in a village with no means to get to the nearest town perhaps a paper round is the only option, some of them are gold mines, iv know people getting £4 for delivering the sunday paper to 6 houses.

Didn't you know the average Pistonheader is a multi-millioner?
Obviously he gets his servant, 1 of 6, to go the nearest shop for a paper.

Exactly, I live in the countryside and it is the only work available locally. I'd rather suffer the humiliation of being a lowly paper boy, but have £100 a month in my back pocket than not work and have what I can sponge off my dad.
