Personally, I wouldn't take Clarkson liking something as a positive thing, any more than I'd take him disliking something as a negative. The guy generally just seems to talk complete drivel.

Actually, I generally respect his opinion.

There is some nonsense but he is a Petrolhead and has it right on the M3 and Pius.

If he actually wrote as a proper motoring journalist (if there is such a thing), then yes. But that's not what he's paid to do - he's paid to write entertaining articles, and that usually means he goes to one extreme or the other in all his reviews.

His writing is much better than his on screen character and I like his columns. He's mostly quite astute with his observations so they do count, certainly more than his TG opinions.

Besides, I've never seen anyone say that the Nissan GTR is a []bad[/i] car, or even that it's not a very good car.

I have no wish whatsoever to own one, but I accept that it's very good at what it does.

Not sure how a big, heavy, four wheel drive car being good at being what it is can be a slap in the face to people who like different sorts of car for what they are.

To be honest I don't have any problem reading/hearing Clarkson's opinion on cars. As look as you take it with the pinch of salt it deserves and remember he is playing up to a TV persona, some of it can be good to watch/read. At the end of the day, it is just an opinion, albeit a usually exaggerated one that may or may not have any factual base to it.

Don't join the people who follow the line of thought that "it's on TV so it must be true" and remember not to take it too seriously and you can't go far wrong. :P

That's a little presumptuous, don't you think?

He's dumbed down the whole affair thanks to his TV persona. There's plenty of others who have experience and are able to communicate that to readers.
