Is this the future of prestige car sales?

I've been looking into E55 AMG's and a mate found this on youtube..

Its the first time i've seen cars being marketed this way..

Does any one do this in the UK, if not then would it work?

Sure it would cost a lot to make a vid for each car, but more likely to crank up the sales..

Have you seen the ads by Autoemotion I think it is, The most cringeworthy thing I have every seen!

Very informative, my only issue are some of the ways in which the Americans pronounce words - zeenons (xenons) and they clearly haven't heard of accelerator, they seem to think it's `gas`

The main trouble is the time it would take to film and edit that up, I would guess about a day's worth of work, fine if you've got the manpower to have a chap doing nothing but making the films but otherwise a whole heap of time when you're not selling cars.

Funnily enough I've started doing a similar thing just this week. It started with a Camper Van I have in stock which is unusual for me, so the video idea came about so I could show more of it and avoid getting details wrong in the written ad. Then I thought why not do a few for the cars as well?

I'm working on the assumption that the potential buyer already knows a bit about the model, as that is the one they have chosen to look at adverts for.
Rather than use the video to sell the model, I'm just trying to show a bit more about the cosmetic condition, as this is the bit that is so hard to tell from just photos.

Doing the video itself isn't too time consuming, but they do take a while to upload, and then you have to edit your ad details.

Also its not easy to show it in the ad. eBay will not let you post links, so I ask people to copy and paste the address, and Autotrader wont even let me publish that, so I ask people to search for certain words on youtube which also is less than ideal, but I'm giving it a go to see if it helps.

Those guys are local to me and the vids they do are great. Many dealers do these vids but these do the best ones I've come across. Let me know if you want me to check the car out for you in person.

Anyway, I think the reason they do it over here is because of the potential distances invloved. Nobody will travel 100's or even 1000's of miles just to kick the tyres so in order to broaden your geographic customer base as far as possible, a detailed video of the car with loads of detailed photos is the only way to go.

Consequently many people in the states will buy a vehicle unseen based on the strength of the information contained in the advert.

Not sure it's as necessary in the UK due to the much higher population density though?

Not great I admit, but if you are seriously in the market for one of his cars, it does give you a better look at it before you go to see it. Problem is maybe it would put off more potential veiwings than might attract?

Hopefully mine will be percieved a bit better than that.

What the hell is going on with this guy's accent? And these ridiculous phrases he keeps coming out with like "this car is presented in green" and "these are temperamental cars...this one does not fall into that category".

He needs to get a script worked out instead of just setting off his poor quality camera and speaking because of the rubbish that keeps coming out of his mouth!

Do YouTube have reference numbers for the vids in the same way eBay have listing numbers ofr the auctions? Might be easier than suggesting search terms.

If I ever sell my car, I'll definitely rig up some sort of mounting system for my camera and take everyone for a quick drive.

yes they do, but they're part of the url and not all that memorable, so for the video I linked to above you just have to add the "watch?v=mJswUhLBVO8" to the back of the youtube.com address and it'll take you straight to that video.

If you've uploaded the video however then you can just tell them to go to your youtube page and then they're only presented with videos that you've made making it a lot easier to find.
