Dealer damage ...

Not happy, just cleaned the car and noticed the monumental cockup the dealer made when they swapped out a bulb the other week.

Didn't notice it until now - when I just washed it.

In nutshell, they removed the headlight to replace the bulb and have scratched the bumper when refitting it.

Think they will be getting a phone call in the morning.

I predict that they will tell you...

A: to prove that you haven't bumped the car, or had it bumped by someone, since 'the other week'.
B: to prove that they caused the damage.
C: that they can fit a new headlamp unit for a few hundred quid.

Yep, most cars have so much crap to squeeze in under the bonnet, removing / pulling the unit forward is the easiest / quickest way.

That's how the 16 year old at the main dealer changes 'em for £120/hour. Just flicks the light assembly out with a chisel by the looks of it.

The scratches go under the headlight, and are in "the direction of the headlight" as it is removed/ refitted.

I'm guessing that's an Astra or Vectra? If so you shouldn't need to remove the unit. I've done plenty without easily enough.

Volvo in fact, you have to remove the light - can't get at the bulbs otherwise ...

so did the check the alignment afterwards ?

may explain why some many cars have 1 light that blinds the FFFF out of me at night

I've never done it, never met a customer who would ask for it or be willing to pay either.
