Will Isofix Ruin My Seats?

As it says really we were looking at the Isofix bases today and it looked like it would leave permanent marks in the leather seats if it was attached over a long period of time?

We've had an Isofix seat on our 3 series for 2 years and there is not a mark on them.

Use a seat protector like this It will stop marks and keep various unpleasant substances off your seats

Isofix bases/seats do leave indentations on the seats but IME after they've been removed, the indentations reduce slowly but surely

Some cars hide the ISOFIX points behind vertical zips (e.g., Octavia II with leather seats), so there are no dents as you're not forcing the seat apart.

The Britax base we're using doesn't seem to be damaging our seats.

I just got some cheap but thick rubber rear car mats from Tesco (I think they were about £4 each at the time). Put them under the kids seats and after 4 years for one and 2 the other the car seat is as good as new, no marks or dents. (After I've cleaned the crumbs away that is)

Echo the above - 2.5 years and no indents. Leather seats are a godsend for kids in cars!

No, much better than normal child seats AND you can adjust them forward slightly to ensure no pressure on the seat itself.

We got a couple of plastic sheath type things with the seat that fit over the isofix protrusions, had the car over 3 years and no marks, leather seats also

We got these too, but haven't used them since they seem to force the seat pads further apart than the basic mount alone would. I could see them being useful if you have to keep slotting child seats in and out but otherwise I'm of the view that the car seats will "recover" faster without them.
