Silly little cars.

Dear PH...

Is it wrong to obsess over 'silly little cars', as my Dad calls them. I don't mean all little cars, but there are some that appeal to me so SO much, and I have no idea why. For example, take this;

Not at all, I love fiestas and the like. I miss my old 1.6 16vSI and 1.25 zetec.

If you are a youngster it's understandable that you like different cars to your dad.

You probably listen to 'garage' or 'bass and drum' too.

Not fast, but a brilliant, exploitable chassis. My mum kicked the hell out of one for about 90k miles, and nothing, absolutely nothing went wrong. Fantastic little car. IMO the only problem was a rather high driving position, and by crikey they seemed small inside!

Personal opinion I suppose. I felt it was incredibly underpowered, not exactly the final word in handling or poise either.


I can see what you mean about reliability though, but then it's a modern(ish) hatchback, driven as a daily by a Mum I'd expect a good bit of reliability.

IMO that's all the Zetec-S ever was, a slightly styled and warmed over shopping hatch, it wasn't ever supposed to be anything more.
