As a driver, which do you hate more?

Simple. Of all the things or things I could think of that 'slow you down' which do you hate the most?

For me it's mobile ones. We all know why.
And it would have been average if I still had one of my previous cars but they don't affect me anymore as I don't like taking the Mini on the M'Way

Middle-lane-motorists get my vote, but with my tiny car speed bumps are a worry as well. The "pillow" ones especially...

The speed cameras haven't caused me an issue, its the speed limits (particularly the mile upon mile of 50mph on sections of the motorway - very tedious) that bother.

However, on a day-to-day basis, speed bumps really annoy. My car is quite low, and has a really hard suspension; speed bumps are a right pain. I'm fairly sure they're not doing the car any good, can't imagine they help efficient driving either.

I'm not convinced those pillow type bumps are a good idea either, as many cars are not wide enough to completely clear them, so you end up with fairly high loading on the inner walls of the tyres.

Mobile speed cameras are there purely to trap people and only come out in rush hour to earn the most cash. wkers.

As I understand it, cars aren't meant to be wide enough to clear them, they're built like that to slow down cars but not fire engines and ambulances, I believe.

I think tyres are designed to be able to deal with the occasional high loading on one side. Given the number of cars you see parked half on the kerb, I think the speed humps are the least of the tyre manufacturers' problems from that point of view.

I can avoid everything on that list apart from speed bumps. They are a pain in the arse, and most of the one's near my have had no maintenance for years so all the warning paint has disappeared. Which can be fun at night.

Absolute, fking pointless pieces of st.

Out of all the choices in that poll, these are the only things that force you to slow down to way below the speed limit, often to walking pace, only for you to speed up again to the limit, wasting fuel and creating more pollution*.

The other choices you can mitigate for, by obeying the speed limit, which I can live with. Most of the time.

I was going to vote Speed Bumps. Painful to drive over. And the ones by me seem to just be square.

Its stealth tax. The bumps put more wear on your suspension components, which cause them to eventually fail and need replacing. You send it to a garage. You buy the parts (vat), you have them fitted (vat). The extra petrol driving to the garage (vat+fuel duty).....

.....anyway, i think pot holes/rough roads are the worse in the world. Kill your car.

Speed bumps in all their forms.

You don't have to drive through a speed trap over the posted limit, but you do have to negotiate the bumps, even if you slow down to a crawl from the 20-30mph you were doing, they're still bloody annoying things. Also, between parked cars and oncoming traffic, it's often extremely difficult to take them perfectly squarely, thus avoiding them.

Which often means in the areas where they're employed, I'm spending more time paying attention to negotiating the bumps successfully than simply driving along at an appropriate speed, paying attention to pedestrians and cars that have just stopped that somebody may be about to fling a door open from, or those who set off without looking in their door mirror and over their shoulder before pulling away without indicating etc.

You're not supposed to race between them.

I voted for mobile cameras, as they're the only things there that you can't plan around, that can catch you out even if you're paying attention.
