I'm thinking of looking for an early Impreza to keep as a weekend car. The earliest are now over 15 years old. Has anyone got one on a classic policy? I don't fancy paying full premiums for a weekend car.

You will be lucky.
Can you get them on a classic car policy?
Only car I found that was any good with a classic policy was a lotus Elan, Mr2s and CRXs were not even able to get it and they are over 20 years old.

Tried on an 20 year old R32 GTR and was told to f off. You see Japanese cars are never classics are they are all driven by becapped, spitting, uneducated scrotes.

At least that was the impression I got from these "car enthusiast" brokers.

Do you even need classic insurance?

The policies for contemporary specialist cars seem to be as good. I found I could insure a (more or less) modern Caterham or TVR for the same price as a classic with the right specialist insurers. There are bound to be Japanese specialists around too. Have you tried Sky? That name rings a bell from when I had my Eunos...

If it's not a main car and you are willing to sign for limited mileage, etc, then call up a good broker and ask for a quote on a shadow or mirror policy.

Should be very affordable.

Always insured my older impreza on a classic policy as its far cheaper, this year however i was told the car is no longer eligible, shopped around a few companies and was told the same thing, now paying top whack.
