Turbo Belm(*) at Traffic Lights

So the local council are re-surfacing various stretches of road around my place of work, using the molasses & gravel method.

As such, many white lines have disappeared including the stop line at a set of traffic lights.

Now the phasing of said lights has been iffy for a while now, not changing when a vehicle is detected but waiting a 30-60 seconds (which I'll never get back).

But now there is the added problem of cars stopping 20 feet from the lights, which are never gonna change from red.

In light of recent threads, what should be done?


PS: I guess the reason that the contractors have failed to sweep the spilt gravel off of the surrounding roads that have not had any works is because some has pissed them of & they launched their broom at the offending chariot

This used to happen all the time when I first learned to drive and was on my way to college each day. People would sit at a particular set of lights but wouldn't go close enough to the line to set off the sensor. I used to get out of the car and tell them very politely to move forward and explain the reason why etc.

From this I learnt that people, especially middle aged men, don't like being told what to do by an 18 year old, even when they are very clearly in the right. I'll probably feel the same way when I'm middle aged.

That's becasue they always know best. Certain people I know certainly do, and being told what's up by a 21yo will not change thier mind no matter how much difficulty they have with whatever they're doing.
