Because the world and his mate get whiplash when they are in a 5 mph fender bender, claiming thousands of pounds for their troubles.

Because insurance company A sells your crash details to an accident management firm who guarantee a payout for non-existent injuries from insurance company B and vice-versa.

They claim the massive increase in premiums is down to the rise in injury claims when they are one of the biggest culprits.

Hypocritical, non?

This!

Everyone pisses and moans about the increases in premiums, but then think nothing of a dubious whiplash claim for a few grand. Where do they think this money comes from? Insurance companies are not charities and will simply pass any additional costs straight onto their customers.

Well it isn't like they have any choice, seeing as other people are already selling the data, If they stop refering people to ambulance chasing lawyers then others will sell their details and they will not get the referral fee, so they stand to lose more by not refering people than if they do. That is why the ABI is calling for a ban on referral fees.
