Will BMW ever make a Supercar? They seem to have all the ingredients, know-how and capabilities..

Yet if one common saloon car was ever going to be worth a supercar price, it's probably a BMW. Given the E46 did a similar 'Ring laptime to an SLR I'd say, in raw pace alone, they aren't too far wide of the mark.
