Online plate valuation...really?

Just out of idle curiosity i used one of these to value the plate on my Chim, basically i have a private plate on retention which i'm thinking of putting on the Tiv.

The current plate is L450 MJS....i got a quote back, which it seems they will stand by for £1000!!

Really? Didn't think it's that special, maybe to a guy with the initials MJS who has a 450 Chim..?

Presumably you'll only get this if they sell it, rather than paid up front?

I got a plate with the car valued at £650(I think), never sold, even on ebay at 100.
