Taking photos of your P&J.

Am I the only one who worries about what other people are thinking? I'm one who likes to continuously photograph my car through stages of ownership, so I can look back at them one day in the future and have a clear memory of what they were like. This is particularly after a good wash and polish. The thing is, I find myself feeling self-conscious about what the locals must be thinking about the bloke who photos his cars from every angle every single time he lifts a wash mitt to it.

Its now got to the point where I scan the local surrounds to make sure noone is looking before I take any snaps. Does anyone else suffer from this?

I'm like you. I love taking pictures of my cars after a wash & polish session. I don't care who is looking though. All my neighbors comment on how often I clean the car, & how I will 'polish it away'.

Yes, I feel a real nobchuffer so pretend I'm selling it and am taking photos for the ad. For that reason, I tend to miss prime photo locations as people will see and think I'm a chugbibbler doing it just to show off. It would be different if I could pretend to be a photographer with a big SLR, tripod and lights but a pocket camera doesn't cut it.

I usually only take pictures when they're broken and I don't know how to fix them!

The selling excuse only works once though, that's the issue...

Nope, I like to take pictures of my car occasionally - generally when I get something changed on it. The many hundreds of pictures of each car I've owned is probably a good clue as to where most of my money went over the past few years.

Normally if I'm out and about, or something new on it. Always have a peek around when out and about though. Don't want to appear too weird.

Yep, I don't give a monkeys.... If you are worried, display her at a show or two then everyone will be taking pics of her and you can join them

With the availability of digital cameras an internet forums Id say it is becoming far more normal for petrolheads to document the ownership of their vehicle.

I feel gutted that i don't have more than a half a dozen pictures of my first several cars and the majority were taken just before selling so I have no evidence of all the work that goes into them:-(

I don't take pictures of my car, I'd feel like an idiot as it's only a mazda.

So get my mates to take them for me.

If it was something decent I wouldn't care though.

I enjoy taking pictures of the car. However it's not really at times when it's particularly clean, more during a drving trip when I see a nice location for a picture. One good time can be club runs, like the picture of the 10th (mine) and 20th Anniversary editions, as lots of people will be taking pictures when parked up. I don't have too many pictures of it driving (for obvious reasons, but I like the one below).

I often take pictures of my car so I know whether certain scratches occurred before or after my ownership :P
