Cars for sale at side of the road

Every day I pass the odd car being sold outside someones house or in a lay-by - I'm quite aware some of these are dodgy 'private' traders btw.
But why do the vast majority of these cars have the words FOR SALE on a piece of paper (or two) in big letters with all the important stuff as good as invisible. It's certainly never made me stop to have a look over one.
If your prospective market will only normally see the car for approx 5 seconds when passing, surely the most important thing you would display in massive digits is the price? With that info in those 5 seconds someone can see the model, reg, year, colour and price. By putting the price in the window you'd presume the car is for sale anyway.
Once someone had the price they could check the value of it, stop back there later, look at the other details and then make a call to the vendor.
Seems logical, yes?

The few I've seen with prices don't seem to be particularly cheap. If I was going to buy a car off someone who was selling it from a layby/their driveway I'd want it to be very cheap.
Funny you say that, I passed a 03 VTR that looked in very good condition today. Big sign £899 in the window, it did get my imagination going. 
We seem to have a lot of cars where people just put 'FOR SALE' with no price, no contact details or anything.
it REALLY boils my wee wee and i dont quite know why... its not like i want to buy a car, or even remotely interested in that one, but im angry for someone that might want it!
