After reading about the coolest guy on the m4 and checking out the citroen, is it possible to find something for less than 3grand that you could use daily with no problems (minus little niggles) with half the luxury and style?

Has to be french, stylish, quite big and comfy... GO!

Renault Safrane Turbo= quick, luxurious, french, but maybe not cool.
Citroen CX= luxurious-ish, french, cool, but not really quick.

Can't think of anything that is all 4...

ETA you said quirky not quick. So yes, these 2 are good. And the Citroen XM V6 smile

No problems meaning they could be used daily, maybe with some warning lights on but not blowing up and preventing you from getting to work..

That same site has a Citroen DS for £5500. I know that is an enormous budget stretch but maybe there are cheaper examples.

There is an Avantime 3.0 V6 24V Privilege Automatic on Autotrader for £2950, it has done 122k miles though. Alternatively, £3k gives you quite a choice of Vel Satis(es?)or is it Vel Satisi?. There is a 3.5 V6 Initiale for £2995.

Good luck finding a DS in good running order for less than £3k. Even sub £10k ones are potentially wallet raping.

That is very nice, and meets the OP's criteria in a way which a V6 Laguna just... doesn't. I had two CXs, largely because even back then decent DSs were real money - now, there's a very nice one for sale by a specialist near me for.... £35 grand. Eeek. A CX is now really quite rare, definitely chic (in my opinion...), they are superb cruisers, and very comfortable indeed; my Turbo 2 was even sort of fairly brisk-ish (not exactly quick, but...).
