Just thinking that these look undervalued compared to their peers of the time, this one looked decent in the classified,

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2870250.htm

Two and a half grand, E30 M3's, Lancia Integrales and the Sierra Cosworth (decent, original ones) seem to be commanding a lot more, ok there are more expensive 190's in the classified but these seem to be optimistic given the number still out there for a couple or three grand.

Were these not as good as the others ? is it because they aren't as Iconic ?

Not buying one, not selling one, just seeing if anyone else is thinking the same ?

Can understand why they arnt fetching e30 & intergrale prices, but their still far behind. Love the recaro back seats, a 2+2 4 door saloon!

The multilink-backaxle is so far ahead of the E30 M3 its not even amusing.
Way more controllable and comfortable. The gearbox is the same as in the E30 M3, just other bushings afaik! change them and it becomes much sweeter.

The rear suspension might be technically better, but the road tests of the era put the M3 well ahead in the driving involvement stakes. ISTR the gear ratios were a bit crap on the Merc as well.

With a service history with more holes in it than Hazel Jones at that price I suspect..

Many actually consider the mercedes 4-pot to be the sweeter of the two. As for the ratio - seing as the gearbox is the same - couldnt the gear ratio be changed?

Avantgarde motors had a couple up for well over £20k - they're sold!! Not special editions either.

Even if you buy one of these at 3-5k, I bet you've got a bill of double the initial to make it right.

I owned one for a year/10000 miles (picture in my profile).

They're great cars and fairly reliable but as others have said to keep in top condition can be expensive but I think that is the case with many 20+ year old cars.

I'd definitely own another given the chance.

I have no idea what mine is worth (and probably should sell it). With cars priced everywhere like they are, it's extremely hard to tell what to ask. This makes it rather tricky to consider selling it, probably why I've kept it so long.

Nice motors, a friend has a 2.5 - very well tied down for an old car

The only really valuables ones are the ones with Full MB History, low miles and low owners.

I think £4k should get a good usable example. They don't usually sell very quickly, I've been keeping an eye on the market since I sold mine in 2010 and most take several months to sell.

BMW fanboys are richer than Mercedes ones? smile

Seriously they just haven't grabbed the imagination of the car buying masses perhaps - EVO 2s are worth a fair bit though
