Ingsignia Hire Car Euro Headlight Adjustment!

Just picked up an Insignia hire car, going into Europe and read this regarding headlight adjustment:

To automatically adjust the dipped beam insert key into the ignition switch but do not turn on. Pull the headlight stalk back (as if you were flashing the headlights) and while keeping it back turn the ignition on (not start the car). Apparently there will be some sort of audible noise (beep) from the dash and the dipped beam headlights should either adjust to the right or set to a central downward (ie neutral) postion. The same process can be used to re-set the headlights back to the left.

I'd imagine that's on the elite model or those spec'd with xenon's only?

Let me see, you read this, then wondered if it worked. So rather than actually try it 1st before getting out of the driving seat you went to your computer, typed out a message on p'heads to ask if it worked. Don't people actually try stuff out 1st when the instructions are as simple as they seem. If it didn't work, what was the loss? If the headlights became mis-aligned then take the car back to the rental firm.

I asked the question the day before I was due to leave, the rental firm was closed. It didnt work!

Like someone said above, it probably wasn't relevant to the model you had.

Euro types don't bother changing their lights when they come here, so why should you bother going there?

There's eastern europeans driving stboxes over here for years, blinding half the motoring community because they're too dumb/lazy/ignorant to change their lights. No MOTs either as the cars are still registered in Elbonia or wherever they came from.
