What happens if you fail an MOT retest?

Hi

My Spit just failed it's MOT so I know I now have 10 working days to get it back there, there is a fair bit of work to do but I should get it back in time. However, if it fails again what is the deal then? Does it get another 10 days or do I have to pay for another test?

Normaly you get 10 days to retest (I've retested multiple times within that timeframe) then you have to stump up another £50'ish for another test

Oh, ok so I could send it back tomorrow then in theory for a re-test and then again within those 10 days. I never thought of it that way. Doubt 10 days is enough in honesty, regretably the list is long and mechanical...

IIRC it's at the discretion of the MOT testing station.
I’d suggest asking them if they could have a glance at the repairs, prior to going through the re-test, to help not waste their time as they only have a few slots of official test time per day

And just being nosey, is this the Spitfire in the Classic section? if so what did it fail on?

I will pick up the report at 5 and will likely post my annoyance, it appears to be a few rather silly things that I could have avoided such as the headlights appearing too low etc but the main concerns are the brakes, handbrake cable and rear shocks.

I checked shocks and brakes and considered them to be ok so that is odd. And the handbrake is working to the maximum effort it can muster at present and I worked on this at the weekend. We shall see when further inspection is had...

Handbrakes on triumphs are appauling at the best of times!
