Advice needed on car

Hi, my first post and i am far from a car expert!

I am looking at buying an Audi a3 (05 plate 52k miles) for £4250.

This car is on a v car register as it had "had water damage in 2007 and needed new carpets hence bargain price"

1. What is a v car register?

2. What are peoples opinions on buying a car of this nature?

Steer clear chum, written off because of flood damage, basically because it can be fine for a couple of years and then after a while corrossion sets in and all the electrics will start playing up, leaving you with a hefty bill!!
Do yourself a favour and walk away

This. Wouldn't go near a flood damaged car.

Bland as anything and nowhere near as reliable as the badge would have some people believe.

You would be better off with a focus.

all 3 ideally! I drive a Toyota Corolla t3 1.6 but it is quite a heavy car and want something with a bit more power.

I have also been looking at the t-sport model of my car. I have turned 25 now so hopefully insurance will be a bit kinder to me now aswell!

A civic type-r would be a better bet.

I dont really know to be honest mate!

Just want something sportyish with a bit of power whilst at the same time being good on the petrol. 4 k - 6k is my range .

So what is your criterea for your new car? If you want an a3 then get an a3 but they really are so bland.

Are you saying a type-r is too visually shouty for you? I ask as the shape is very similar to the corolla you seem to be contemplating.

If i'm honest i'm not sure what i want, only that i fancy a change!

Nope, I meant the shape civic that can be had for around £4k- £5k as i thought perhaps that was the sort of budget you are looking at. Breadvan shape as it is known, or officially EP3.

The new one looks nothing like a corolla.

Used to drive an A3 S-Line Quattro diesel, very firm ride but it was a brilliant car. Was fast, economical, handled decent and looked nice without looking like a poser car. Wouldn't buy a petrol though...

Depends what you class as fast and decent handling. I certainly would not say they are either of those, the 170tdi is sprightly at best, maybe better after a remap.

Looks are totally subjective but i can`t argue with you about fuel economy.
