Kwik-Fit Mobile Tyre Replacement Service

I know Kwik-Fit is a swear word to a lot you on here, however I have a company car and that's where I have to go for tyres.

One of the options available to me is the mobile tyre fitting service, where they'll come out to my house and replace my tyres there and then.

Normally when I visit my local Kwik-Fit, Its usually a 1 hour wait for 2 new tyres complete with steering wheel vibrations when driving above 70mph

I'm looking for peoples experience of the mobile fitting service. Is it good or just as poor as the work carried out at one of their garages?

Also, how do you know when your tyres need replaced? Surely they arent going to drive out and check your tyres? As it's a company car, tyres need to be a certain depth before they'll replace them. How do you get this checked/confirmed?

Use a 20p coin and compare the depth?

Correct, I could do that. I'm pretty sure the leasing company require an "expert" opinion though?

Tyre depth - you can pick up something to measure them pretty cheaply but to be honest I would've thought you would know once you're close to the limit.

re: Kwik fit - I'll go against the grain a little here -> we used the local kwik fit for 4 new tyres for the other halfs car (VW golf) and have not been disapointed.

Reasonable price and actually very good/quick service.

It totally depends on who the person is who does the work so no way to know how good/bad the fitter is until you try it! Not helpful I know - all I am saying is don't write them off.

It should not be that hard to replace tyres and balance wheels on most cars so how wrong can it go ... especially newer ones unless you've damaged the alloys a lot? (loaded question... !)

I had them come and do two tyres early last year.

They come to my work place. Did the job and was away in a similar time to waiting in the grotty service area of a local kwik fit. Plus I was able to Browse PH Do some work at the same time.

ETA - Apparently it is the better trained and experience fitters that get the chance to go mobile.

He has to use kwik Fit as its a company car.

I've used this service via Leaseplan. I rang up for 2 tyres and they guy came out and changed all four - the other 2 were borderline too. Sign PDA then go back in to the laptop. No problems. I will always use this mobile service now rather than go into a shop. I didn't get a choice of tyre but then again I didn't ask for one.

I could check them myself, but like I said above, its a company car so I'm sure the lease company need it confirmed by an "expert" - Any company car drivers here who have used the mobile service?

I'm not writing them off, but have used the local Kwik-Fit on 2 seperate times, and each visit has resulted in a horrible vibration.

My last car (Pug 308) didnt have alloys but it went into Kwik-Fit without steering wheel vibration and came out with steering wheel vibration. One of my bro's colleagues took his car in the other week, and he came out with steering wheel vibrations.

I don't really want a Kwik-Fit slagging topic, just to find out whether the mobile service is any better.

I used their mobile service the other month for two back tyres.

No issues, job was done quickly and at a good price.

Still wouldn't take my car into one of their branches though
