Buying car with Santander Conditional Sale Agreement Finance

Please can someone tell me the procedures, safe, reliable way to transact with this bearing in mind that it is over £10k+

I assume they don't take credit card as part payment. I'll need to check with Barclays if I can pay that much over the phone to a finance house too.

So you're buying a used car privately which is already on an agreement with Santander?

You need to ring Santander in the company of the seller, get a settlement figure faxed or emailed to you (Santander will want to speak to the seller to confirm they are OK for the information to be released to you) and then ring Santander back and pay them over the phone the settlement figure with your credit card. Then get Santander to fax or email you clearance confirming no further interest in the car. You can then give any extra above and beyond the settlement figure up to your agreed price to the seller and drive home.

So they can email settlement details there and then, paid say in 15 mins.

I just read need to send through a form to agree to send details through also was told by someone else they won't take credit card. Was hoping to put some on credit card

I just rang Santander Consumer and asked about buying a private car with finance on it.

they said i can't pay over the phone, only the customer can, so i would need to transfer money to seller first. Said I wasn't happy with that and would prefer to do it direct with them.

I can do payment via my branch direct to Santander account with agreement number:
Bacs (but takes 3 working days) Sort 09-00-92 A/C 90004049
or
Chaps (instant at a cost) Sort 09-02-40 A/C 9004049

Will probably look to do CHAPS and hope the seller will send me details of settlement agreement being cleared after.
