Just offered £99 as advertised, there's no reason why it should be refused.

Would be nice if as many people on here offered £99 as well; just to teach the tight wad a lesson for not wanting to pay for a proper ad' on eBay when it could be done for free on here.

ebay's "Make Offer" system means he doesn't have to accept an offer, even at £99.

He does state quite clearly in the advert that he isnt selling it for £99.
Didnt stop me offering £3.50 though

As it's a business listing, the advertised price is the price you pay.

I know eBay take 10% but advertising a what £3,000 car for £99 to save a few quid deserves to have the pistonheads taken out of it.

Bear in mind though that ebay motors isn't legally binding like the rest of ebay. Would this be relavent?

What really bugs me, is it's tts like this that cause all the noise when you are trying to find something.

If I search for Mustang, I don't want ads of Camaro's coming back because some tit has put "not Mustang Corvette Trans Am" in the title. If I want to look of those I'll search for them.

I suggest all the smartarses spouting crap about Trading Standard look up the term 'invitation to treat' (and maybe have a look at ebay's T's + C's too).

Is it? No contract has been formed. You could offer him the £100 but he could still turn you down. It's no difference to a mis-price in a shop.

An "invitation to treat", rather than a contract, so you'd struggle to force them to sell it for that ("specific performance" in contract lingo) whether the listing had a disclaimer or not.

It is, however, a breach of eBay listing policy to list if for less than you're selling it for (as it avoids higher listing fees), so if you feel compelled to report it, go for it!

When you're looking for something you get bombarded with mis-advertised/fraudulent listings like these. So let's all get together and offer the advertised price. It'll take us a few seconds but if enough of us do it then it'll take all day for the tight wad lister to go through all the emails. hopefully they have text alert as well so it'll mess their phones up.

The advertised price is the price you should pay. Exactly the same as a shop, if you pick something up on the shelf with a price sticker for 79p and it scans at the till for 89p then 79p is the price you pay because the trader has a legal obligation to ensure goods are advertised for the correct price.
