Honda Spare Delivery

Ordered a set of bearings for the gearbox I'm rebuilding on the Honda last week.

Eveything ordered OK, delivery due today. So I get a call from the dealer, ETA on one of the bearings is...... NOVfkINGVEMBER

It's a bloody joke, they say recent events in Japan are not effecting spares delivery, it's simply a "long lead time part"

Can't you get an equivalent bearing from someone like SKF (they probably make the honda ones anyway).

Nope, nothing available, contacted all my bearing suppliers, it's a special.

In my experiance I have had 100% reliability in all of our previous Hondas.

This gearbox is of unknown history, hence the rebuild.

What's the box for? Temporary fix is to get a replacement from a breaker?

Thats a shame, I've always had amazing service from Honda parts 24 hrs if in UK stock and 48 hrs from Belgium I guess you're just unlucky in this case.

We've got a few parts that are on order for September, they were ordered 2 months ago.

The box in the car was run without oil for a prolonged period by the previous owner, and is therefore toast.

There is only one scrap car in the UK & they want £450 "it's rare mate" for it.

It's all great until you get a cracked headlamp due to a stone or somesuch.
