Insurance for a road-legal racecar?

Hopefully I've posted this in the right place...

I'm having a difficult time finding insurance for my road-legal racecar so I was hoping PH could help...

My car is primarily a racecar and stored in a secure industrial unit most of the time. I've kept it road-legal so I can test it on the road and take it to workshops etc without having to trailer it.

I also occasionally use it as a road car - take it on trips to the 'ring etc - which seems to be the problem. A few companies like Moris do 'competition car' insurance, but it's more like rally car insurance, ie limited cover for driving to/from events and in between stages. They dont do 'road risk' cover.

I'm looking for 'standard' 3rd party fire/theft road cover for about 2000 miles a year.

It's a 1989 mx5 ma5da race car, so I'm not sure if it would qualify as a 'classic' with the modifications?

My current insruance for it is with Highway via Greenlight, but it's gotten very expensive as they only policy option seems to be more general insurance for modified cars which assumes it is a daily driver...

Anyone else here have a road-legal racecar insured for road use? with whom?

I used the above while I kept my MR2 Race car on the road. I think it was just shy of £200 a year on limited 2000 mile policy including unlimited mods, I did have to provide a list of all the work I had done / intended to do to the car just so it was on file, and I added a whole bunch of things over time without any impact on price.

I have a 4.5 l twin turbo Omega, a 500HP Maestro and a 300hp 2litre turbo Vauxhall Magnum with Adrian Flux specialist vehicles section. Total bill is less than £700 for the lot. Limited to 3k miles per year each, not that they ever do anything like that mileage. Just got a price for a 180hp mini turbo (old mini) at £230.

We use them. Very, very good.

Usually get ours through Kitcar specialists, which deal with oddball stuff all the time...
