Best bhp/ton ratio on PH

Inspired by the average bhp thread, which of the vehicles you've owned has had the best bhp/ton ratio?

In PH style I will kick off with my best: MX-5 at a lowly 119 bhp/ton

Worst: 1988 Transit with probably about 30 bhp/ton!

It's going to be a caterfield I would say.

When I had a 250bhp Westfield, that was pretty close to 1/2 a tonne, so 500bhp/tonne.

Personally:

Best: 428 bhp/tonnne for my Westfield

Worst: 69 bhp/tonne 1.3 Polo

RV is technically a road car, so it is valid, and the winner.

my Track car may get 2nd place, it has an MOT and a V5 and is 666bhp/ton

JamieP's supra must have pretty good power-to-weight as its running around 1000bhp.

Not sure what it weighs though.

My westfield has a tweaked busa engine which has showed 221 BHP,not sure what it weighs but it cant be more than 500kgs so i reckon its round about 450 BHP/tonne.Certainly feels it!

Remember to include the driver in the weights A 500bhp/ton car without a driver is just an ornament. Of course this penalises those of us with light cars somewhat.

Dropping an 85Kg rider onto it brings the hp/ton figure back down to 667..

I would've thought when car/bike power to weight ratios are quoted by manufacturers or in magazines etc,they would be without a driver/rider present? As already mentioned most bike power to weight ratios will almost half when a fat tt in his leathers gets on it!

Well exactly, but I think that was ewenm's point.

Any "claimed" figure from a car maker will be without driver - too much of a variable.

Agreed but even with a pie botherer and a full tank of fuel on board a 1000cc sports bike isn't going to weigh more than 300Kg. With 180 bhp +.

Cars loose a lot of power from the flywheel to the tyres don't forget. I'd guess a 180 bhp bike would have circa 150 bhp at the wheel.
