2003 renault 1.6 vvt engine scenic

anybody know the model number of the above engine?

bil just had a cam belt failure and engine is fooked.

am i right in thinking, it would be cheaper just to drop a new engine in, rather than mess about with parts?

if so, need to find a replacement.

anyone now know the average labour cost to remove and replace such an engine?

well hes managed get hold of a engine with 27k miles for £350. not bad seeing has his current engine has about 120k on.

its obviously an identical engine, do the dvla need notifying?

technically yes as the engine numbers wont match up. But i dont think it would be a major issue if you didnt as its a like for like plant. (ie no insurance fraud from running a bigger engine or something)
