Idly smoking a tab outside a pub earlier, and eyeing the cars parked up they all looked (to me) asexual. 207's / MPV's / BMW 3-Series all in dour shades of anonymous.

I was reminded that, a few weeks earlier, in the same car park at the same time were two cars that reeked of male. Two cars that, given the slightest whiff of oestrogen on the driver's seat, would have cut the ignition and refused to start. The cars in question were these:

And

We all have opinions on the "gay" cars, the "hairdressers" cars, the "girly" cars and such like. But the above examples, with the greatest of respect to our lady PH'ers who also drive beefy kit, are Man Cars. Old Spice Cars. Burly, hairy-chested cars. Cars for the raffish cad. Cars that whose owners have a study redolent of expensive cigars, and a garage reeking of old leather and oil.

Another example - The 3.8 Jaguar Mk II:

Given the above, post your "Man Cars".

Up until 2000 or so there was a good way of telling which car was for men, and which was for women.

Pull down the sun visors. In a "Man" car, there is a mirror on the passenger's side. In a "Lady" car there is a mirror on the driver's side.

Takes a man just to turn the wheel let alone depress the clutch. I will take mine in black please.

Something to do with a long bonnet? Compensating? My vit has a short bonnet... That means my penis is massive.

Surely a man car doesn't actually have an engine - it just has an empty engine bay and you have to push the car to move it, so much so that your muscles bleed battery acid and your body releases old spice as its pheromone, causing all nearby women to flock to you like benefit scroungers to a job centre plus office to sign on. At this point you let your hordes of minion wenches push the car for you, promising that they're all 'the only one' all the while planning your next seductive attack on their sisters and mothers.

Clearly the answer is therefore an mx5 with the engine removed. smile

On a more everyday level, have you ever seen a woman drive an Octavia vRS?

(I own one. I drive past others quite regularly. I've never seen one driven by a woman. I'm happy to be corrected though.)

Is it the same for similar hot hatches? Focus ST? Civic Type R?

Certainly quite a few Golf GTi's are driven by women.

I know someone that owns one, a long with an MX5 and her husband owns a 75 V6! They used to rally minis in the 70s so they're quite the petrolheads!
