Brilliant breakfast near Basingstoke/Andover/A303?

Hi all,

Has anyone got any tips for this for a cafe, inn or anything else that might be open for an early breakfast en-route to Cornwall (apart from the Little Chef at Popham)?

haha, I was going to suggest the little chef when I saw the thread title!

Honestly, that's probably your best bet, there are a couple of half decent greasy spoons in Basingstoke and Andover town centres but you dont want the hasstle of getting into either of those.

If you don't mind a small detour........from Basingstoke, head down the A339 towards Newbury. You'll find Nelson's Diner on your right.

Opens 730am weekdays, 0800 weekends. The All Day Brekkie is lovely

Oh yes, I forgot about that, I used to eat there quite regularly but gave up after an utterly innedible meal a couple of years ago.

Sure the breakfast will be fine, the steaks on the other hand were not. ETA the breakfast pancakes were pretty good IIRC.

There's the Hilltop Cafe a few miles off the A303 on the Salisbury Road(A30).

Check if Popham Airfield is open. Lot of the bike clubs go there & we go for brekky on a Sunday. You can sit round the back in the sun and watch the planes come and go

There is also a cafe at Lasham airfield, on the 339 between Alton and Basingstoke.

The Sainsbury's in Basingstoke do a very good breakfast and it's just off the M3. There is a pub in a little place called Dummer not far away, think it's called The London Inn - not sure about breakfast but I went there for a dinner a while back and would highly recommend it to anyone passing through the area.
