Real world MPG of boxsters

OK so your wiki has very little in the way of the real world MPG figures for the boxster. Was thinking of getting an S and well it appears that its got less power than an 3.4 911 and yet is worse in terms of MPG. Why is this?!

Perhaps there's a difference in the way they're driven?

I'm not fortunate enough to own one, but Dad's got a late 2007 S and drives it like he's stolen it around the lanes of rural Dorset. Last time I was in it reckoned it was doing 27mpg. After a trip around Europe it came back claiming 31mpg IIRC, which isn't too bad.

Yeah if i can get 30 ish on a run i wont be complaining !

27mpg is about what I get out of my 2001 S. I got that over a 'brisk' run to Milton Keynes and back, using mainly 'A' roads (140 miles).

Taking it more sedately, I took it to the Isle of Wight a few weeks before (300 miles). Two up and chock full of camping gear and it averaged about 29-30 mpg which I was quite pleased with really.

Maybe the folding roof causes them to lose out on aerodynamics slightly to the 911?

One of the problems, probably the only problem, with Boxsters is that they can be driven economically but the sound of the revs building right behind your shoulders is intoxicating and you kind of can't help being a bit heavy with the old right foot.

Had a 3.4S for over a year.

On a run, with a light foot you can expect late twenties.

Drive it normally, without trying you'll average 22.

Amazingly high on fuel consumption.

I do better now in a 3.6l twin turbo!

My little 2.5 Boxster is averaging just over 30mpg (mixed use, shortish commuting generally) on long trips it gets up to about 37mpg and on track days it gets as low as 13mpg. Guess the extra 0.7 doesn’t help economy even with extra 6th gear.

I used to get 30-32mpg average when I was doing my motorway commute. Now I do a small drive through town to the train station and get 25.5 average. About the same as the MINI Cooper S I had before it.

I have got a 2005 3.2S. Town driving is about 20mpg and my usual mix of town and A roads with some 'spirited' driving is about 23.

Cruising at 70 on a motorway I get well over 30mpg. The type of driving makes a much bigger difference on the Boxster than any other car I have owned. My last car was about 25 around town, and only 27 when on the motorway!
