I don't think know any one of them TBH. (six cars)
I kind'a rely on my ears and/or 'feeling' to know when the engine is crying for mercy.
I like rev' couters, but they bug me mostly because when I'm cruising on a motorway I want it to read less than 3k but more often than not it doesn't. That tells me the car's not powerful(ly built) enough to maintain a reasonable speed at reasonable revs. (Stupid I know!)

depends what car i am in, some dont even have a redline.
as my cars are not new i avoid getting to the rev limiter, there is rarely any need to, it always amazes me on track days seeing people go well into the red, they have no mechanical feeling and rely on the rev limiter saving their engine.

I can get close to it, without hitting it.. It was just a Friday evening boring thread
One car is 6k the other is 4ish but no limiter other than 210km/h for speed, and the bike goes to 14k
Once I had changed the 68mm throttle body for a 75mm one the car would readily rev to 6k and feel like it wanted to go on, but when it had the 68mm one it ran out of breath at 5000 to 5500rpm

Someone elses car automatically has at least +1000rpm on the redline.........
