French Trip- Turning off speed camera alerts Garmin satnav

Going on a French trip but apparently speed camera alerts are a big no no in France. Any ideas on how you switch the alerts off?

No need to turn it off.
The alert system based on the GPS localisation of the fixed speed cameras is not illegal at all.
Now, it is a different story if you have a proper detector: you can get your car confiscated if they find you!

Indeed - the locations of the cameras are freely available, so there's nothing illegal about it.

I believe that at the moment you are fine with GPS-based devices.

The news stories are about the plans to bring in a ban on these as well - although there's no firm date on when this will occur.
