Need help with first car

starting to looks for my first car and i would rather like an older car if possible.

heres my option so far.

hillman imp
singer chamois
sunbeam stllieto
fiat 124
mini mayfair
smart car
citroen c1
fiat 127

does anyone know what the insurance would be like for any of these on a fire and theft insurance?

my first choice is the imp with mini wheels on it and lowered ever so slighlty but how much would this make the insurance go up?

I have always found fire and theft to come out more expensive than fully comp insurance, it's worth checking when getting quotes.

Why dont you go for a quote on a comparison website and find out OP?

I wouldn't have thought comparison websites would be particularly good for those cars?

They're good for me getting quotes on a 1972 Mk3 Cortina and a 1980 Vauxhall Chevette so I cant image it being too different for the cars he has listed?

ive looked at all the comparison websites but was just lookin for people with recent experiance.

lol all the corsas are between 2500 and 3800 y so high for a 998cc other than the fact that they are common chavmobils.

another option- citroen 2cv lol

Go onto Footman James, they have a young driver's scheme, I got a good deal on my Triumph 2000 (£800 3rd party fire/theft unlimited mileage) at the age of 17 with them. They said that generally a 2 litre engine is as high as they go for a new driver, so lucky I didn't buy a 2.5 PI!

I'd go for a Hillman Imp watch out in the rain when running low on fuel though ...... the front end doesn't grip to well.

Fiat Panda 1.0. Group 1, unloved by chavs, and fun to drive. Cheapest insurance car you can get, I think. And get your mum as a named driver.

Not a standard, a classic policy doesn't really matter about the engine.
My mate has his with Footman James (If I remember correctly) he has 4 door MK2 escort with a 1750 on twin 45's etc and he pays hardly anything in comparison to most young drivers. They also do a "none performance enhancing modification" thing that as long as it doesnt make it go quicker, such as alloys , roll cage etc they don't charge you extra.

Give them a ring.

tried footman james but most classic insurance websites wont give insurance to anyone under 21

The Fiat 127 is made from Russian steel and try as you may, you cannot stop it dissolving. The older 124 may be better but it's really a Lada with a decent engine. The Mini has similar rot problems and is notoriously deafening. My money, having owned a 127, Mini and Imp is go for the Rootes product.

£1464 is what I get on an Imp. 17, no NCB, group b postcode.

Who was your quote with? And did you do the things to get your quote down, parents etc?

Add to experienced adults as named drivers- does wonders for the premium. Im 21 and insurance on a 130i is £800, £1000 for a new range rover!
