Mazda xedos 9, want a LPG conversion

Hi all. used to have a Mazda xedos 9 2.5 V6. and now want another one as a week day hack. but fuel prices what they are considering getting a LPG conversion done. you seem to be able to pick a good one up for 1000-1500. was thinking of the cheapest tank in boot job. only want to spend about 900 on conversion. any one shed any light on LPG. or price of conversion

It'll probably cost more than £900 for a conversion to start with...

(usually around the £2k mark for a proper job)

The cheap kits are exactly that, cheap parts which never perform as well as the decent names kit, the loss of economy is usually much greater than the quality SGI kits.

equally the quality/knowledge of the garage doing the work is high on my list as well having experience of very good and very very poor ones.

IMHO as someone who has owned 4 LPG cars its either good quality kit fitted at a good reputable garage or not.

I think mine was about £1600 although it was converted when I bought it and has been very good.
As said above you could pay £900 but you will get what you pay for. Everyone I know that did it on the cheap ended up with problems that cost them more in the long run.
You will soon save £1600-£2000 back pretty quickly (obviously depending on your mileage), having a cylindrical tank rather than a doughnut tank will save a bit on the conversion too as you can usually get a 90 litre for around £90 compared to a doughnut tank at around £300ish (last time I checked).

You can always have the kit transferred when the car dies too, the pipes will need replacing but most of the other bits can be transferred depending on what the replacement car is.
