Lost wheel key - had an idea, will this work?

About a year ago it suddenly occurred that I couldnt lay my hands on my locking wheel nut key. No worries, it'll soon turn up I thought...
Well, clearly it isnt and given the relative fragility of my front wishbones I am very reluctant to try the 'hammer on a smaller nut' method (anthough I am quite certain that would work!
The nuts arent a million miles away from these:



So my idea is to get a socket that will just fit over the nut, fill it with 'chemical metal' or 'sets like steel', let it set and then undo? Hopefully? The wheels are Sierra 'Phonedial' alloys so theres plenty of space and zero risk of actually being nicked! Hubs are Sierra all round if that makes a difference?

With those raised edges it would be dead easy to tap the nuts off with a hammer and punch, ive done it a couple of times on round lock nuts, it should be a lot easier with those.

It's more usual to hammer on a smaller socket, not nut.

Your local garage should have the tool to remove them.

I saw those though the principal issue would be that I would struggle to get the nut out again when I had removed it...

Nah it comes off OK. I used to buy cars at salvage auctions with a friend, and quite often they came with locking wheel nuts we'd need to remove. With the type of nut in the picture, they work well. IIRC once the nut is loose, if you try to put it back on while still on the remover it will go fingertight only. Either that or a bit of a knock and it comes off.

I've tried one of those before and it was crap tbh. The edge gets a bur on it after one use then it doesn't work again.

Just get your local tyre fitters to get them off. Will likely cost you less than the price of the tool & will save wasting your time with 'chemical metal' or such. (Think they charged my eldest about a tenner when he lost the tool for his Peugeot)

Those are what I used - they took the nuts off quicker than the right key would - no hammering on or anything. So easy that I decided locking wheel nuts are a waste of time - they inconvenience the owner more than any thief with an Irwin remover!

These work well - mate and I used one to remove a trashed nut on his Jeep - pretty much a use once affair though...
