Panda 100HP vs Twingo 133?

I'm bit of a Panda 100bhp fan though, so interested to hear owners opinions of them

No experience of the Twingo, but the Panda has a very, very figdety ride, on a motorway it can get very annoying, but on a b-road not so noticeable. Seating position isn't great in the Panda either, but for a bit of fun put into sport mode and it becomes very entertaining!

Only driven them briefly, but I'd say the Twingo is the feistier of the two, as well as noticeably quicker. The Panda's interior is arguably a nicer place to be, though, and I'd be surprised if the Twingo could match it for economy.

Rust shouldn't really be a serious problem with either given their age. It's not as if they're 1970s Lancias.

Rust? This is 2011 you know. Fiats haven't had a rust problem for atleast 15 years.

As for the Renault, no idea but the Fiat is a well put together car. Interior is a little plasticy and basic but its a nice place to be and the sporty extra bits over the standard panda are a welcome extra. Ride is quite firm but expected as its the "sporting" version.

TBH, they are probably quite a good match as far as build and quality go. Both cheap and cheerful cars.

Have a look at the Yaris T-sport and Suzuki Ignis Sport too.

I only have experience of being a passenger in the Panda and it's a car I absolutely hated and if I was ever given one, would drive it into a wall. Absolutely hated every moment of being in the car so I'd go for the Twingo, and if the Twingo is anything like the RS Megane I have, it'd be unbeatable in it's class....which it is.

Both are fun little cars. However 100hp vs 133hp and the same weight can only mean the Panda loses out in outright speed.

My Panda has been 100% reliable in the 4.5 years I've owned it (since new). Built quality is top notch and the are no signs of wear on the car apart from the usual tyres. I can get 50mpg from the Panda on a work commute, 40 around town. Only negative is rock hard rear suspension.

Try driving both.

Id much rather have the Swift or Ignis sport over both of them

Going by the reviews people seem to view the Swift Sport as getting a bit long in the tooth compared to the Twingo RS? Panda has something charmingly utalitarian about it, its so simple its rather lovable.

I can't comment on the twingo as I'm yet to drive one. The panda though is a fun little car, it just wanted to play. The ride is actualy a little bit bouncy rather than being rock hard. The interior is low rent but still a nice place to be and the seats are nice and comfy. The only sticking point for me would be the fact that they look a little like a small sporty van, I'd still have one though.

I wonder how well they would respond to a re-map?

Its N\A, so reckon on 3-7 bhp max..

Seats are supposed to be best in the business too...

I`m interested in the swift sport as well but theres no getting around the fact that its aging compared to the twingo (?).

I ran a 100HP for 12 months and it was a fantastic car, great roadholding, peach of an engine and a genuine 40mpg+ urban. Build quality and equipment levels are very good, bluetooth and climate control as standard anyone.

I am abit of a Renaultsport fanboy having had two 172's, wouldn't be interested in a Twingo though as its twice the price of a panda even when comparing secondhand cars.

Twice the price of? An new Panda cost around £10k and you get the Twingo with cup chassis for under £12k.

The Panda 100HP has been discontinued, low mileage cars on 07 plates are readily available for £4k upwards.

The earliest of the admittably newer 133 on perhaps an 09 plate start off at £8k, I doubt you can find one cheaper.

I therefore conclude that if you are looking to get into either of these cars then starting with the cheapest example of each a Panda is £4k a Twingo £8k, the Panda is therefore half the price.

How does the two engines compare? I mean, is the twingo engine more fun and free-revving than the Fiat, or the other way around?
