Stupid quirks that niggle you about your car

Following on from thee details you like thread, there have always been a few stupid things in the fars I've had that I don't understand how nobody though of it when designing it.

Example, my beemer has a cup holder in the centre console behind the idrive control. This means you cant use the idrive without a reacharound manouevre like youre going for the passengers knee when you have a drink in there. Annoying as im always on the mway in it and always have a drink there.

Also switching from the dab radio to fm blows your ears off - nice.

4 cupholders in my 2 seat mx5! Especially since the middle 2 can't be used and I can confirm that using the door one still gets you covered in Costa coffee when going round a roundabout!

MK7 Fiesta. Some bright spark decided to put both air vents behind the drivers hands so that no air can actually touch you on a hot day.

Just thought of another,

Had a Fiat Grande Punto as a hire car a few years ago. There is no handle on the boot, you pop it off the remote and the only way to lift it is to stick your fingernails under the bloody edge of the bootlid. Idioti c half arsed design...

The fact the only way to open my boot of my ZR Mk2 is via the remote on the key if the battery on the key dies they is no way at all of getting into the boot at all...

Cupholders that dont hold cups in the E39 BMW. Cant fault the rest of the car, its laid out beautifully and everything works very well and is well built.

Apart from the fking cupholders. All four in my car are broke and 3 out of four in my dads car are broke. I trailed them out of mine, made a blanking plate for the rear and now making up a blanking panel with two USB ports in the front.

Same in my 350z, except the cup holders in the door are illuminated so you can see what has made you wet.

The popper for the "door" digs into my right shoulder when negotiating left-hand bends at speed.

Erm, that's about it.

Metal gear knob gets freezing/boiling depending on the season, and because of the angle the boot opens to if it's wet all the rain on the screen drips into the boot

I get on fine with mine. What I do dislike is the fact they went to the trouble of fitting an aux input to the stereo, but made the connection socket an optional extra; also, the way water pours in to the boot when you open it on a wet day.

My S60 has three cupholders. This is strange because there is a dash mounted cupholder and then two concealed in a compartment next to the handbrake. I never use them mind.

Bizarre. The armrest works fine for me. You know it's adjustable, right...?

The water runs down either side channel on mine, not into the actual boot.

Cupholders in a Mk1 Focus. Far too wide and shallow to actually hold any cups when negotiating T-junctions and roundabouts:

6 series cupholder has to be taken out of the boot and mounted on the passenger's side of the dash.

If you have a MKIII.5 like me, you can remove the centre cup holder and turn the space into a shallow but useful cubby box for sunglasses or the MP3 lead.

The cup holder bit just clips out. I chucked it in the little door thing in the boot.
