Truck stolen with keys
Discussion
Right, I do some work for a builder and a few months ago his labourer went out in his pickup, got out to do something and dropped the keys in the door bin, comes back out and no truck, never to be seen again.
I was talking to him the other day about it and unsurprisingly his insurance co have rejected the claim which he accepted without any argument aparantly.
Is there any mileage in pursuing this claim as the builder (policy holder) wasn't the one who actually left the keys and any actions were out of his control, BTW I'm not sure if the labourer is a named driver or if its an any driver policy if it makes a difference.
Were not talking about a p100 here either, it was a 10K transit tipper.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a door bin?
THe answer is he should get some advice from the insurance ombudsman.
Insurance companies nearly always reject claims if they have even the slightest hope of avoiding paying. Doesn't mean you shouldn't fight it.
The key thing will be to know exactly what is and is not covered in the policy and whether there is any defense for the fact someone stole the keys from private property and then took the van without consent.
I would not have thought they even needed to know who drove it previously?

I'm assuming he means like a drop box. I've used them before with local garages. THe answer is he should get some advice from the insurance ombudsman.
