Time capsule 2011: what 10 cars would you choose?

Having been thinking about once popular cars from the the late 80s/early 90s that are now extinct/near extinction, I wish I had the forethought in 1990 to buy some of them and keep them preserved as new for the future but I was only 10 at the time! I could think of at least 20 cars from that time that I would have liked to preserve. I was lucky enough to own two of my childhood dream cars the Peugeot 205 GTi and Volkswagen Corrado VR6. Both great cars but with 150k and 115k respectively, long past their best. I wish that I had had the opportunity to own them both from new.

Thinking along the same lines, if you could buy new/nearly new examples of 10 cars from today and preserve them as new for 20 years time, what would they be? Consider it an automotive Noah's ark if you will. Lets define nearly new as less than 3 years old and low miles for arguments sake. I'm going to assume that the collectors will preserve all the exotic stuff such as Astons, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and Maseratis so will concentrate more on the mainstream stuff. I think this would be my selection from todays crop.

Its a bit difficult without a budget tbh.

If going solely/more mainstream I'd probably go

Astra VXR
Focus RS
Volvo C30 2.5T5
Mini Cooper S Works
Renault Magane F1
BMW M3
Honda ITR DC2 (or DC5 if DC2's are a bit old for your standards)
MX5 (Standard PH)
Lotus Elise S2
Suzuki Ignis Sport (I'd hate it if all these cars were in my garage but I'm still sitting reminicing about my current lover)

The main problem with cars from that era are that they rusted badly, thus there are hardly any of them about. You don't get that with new cars, though I would save quite a few cars. I'll make a post later once I've thought through them.
