North Circular conundrum humdrum
Discussion
Could anyone please advise what the north circular is like in a morning nowadays?
Travelling from Manchester to Enfield to arrive at 10.00am, autoroute is directing me to the old end of the M1 onto the north circular, I'm looking at M25 jnc 24 onto the A111 and across?
Any local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for adding the title???

Where in Enfield?
I would suggest coming off the M1 at j21a, then using the m25 to j24, then onto the A1005 to Enfield Town. - As per Google Maps.
Although I would be tempted to say; come off the M25 at j22 then use the B556 / Mutton Lane and go through Potters Bar onto the A111 then go on the A1005 to Enfield as you will skip out a couple of junction on the m25.
Unfortunately The M25 around j21 to j24 is having roadworks so 50mph average for the whole strech and traffic is likely to be heavy. Similarly Potters Bar may well have heavy traffic. Its a bit of a gamble either way but at least with potters bar you can cut down some side roads and let your sat nav recalculate... on the m25 you will be stuck.
If you are looking to be in Enfield by ~9:30 you may be OK the Potter Bar route. The morning rush should have subsided a bit by 9am. The drive from Potters bar to Enfield town is only around 15 mins

If you think you can do it quicker maybe you should bid for infrastructure works

The problem is - I've never seen anyone ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING. Surely it would be possible and probably cheaper to send all possible manforce there to finish it as soon as possible? If you think you can do it quicker maybe you should bid for infrastructure works

As an aside, why is it that roadworks in that particular area seem to be never ending? It really annoys me. There have been roadworks\cones up along that stretch of road for years. What the hell are they doing?
Getting rid of the ridiculous way that Ringway 2 goes down to one lane? Worth a bit of disruption IMO.sleep envy said:

Point taken, but as has been said the place is far from being a hive of activity. If it looked like there were a large number of people, all working flat out at all hours of the day and night, I'd have more sympathy. If you think you can do it quicker maybe you should bid for infrastructure works

18 months (already, and nowhere near being finished yet) to widen a couple of miles of road? Nope, does not make sense to me.

By the time they finish the health & safety meetings, completed the risk & method statements for using a portaloo (and translated it all into Polish) the shifts have ended. Or they're just lazy

My mate used to work on M25, outside of Terminal 5. He liked to share with us that on many shifts (some of them paid 150% or even 200% due to it being weekend or BH) he has spent 2/3 of his "working time" playing Snake on his phone in the s

tter.It was the same story when they were fixing Hammersmith bridge. One of the busiest and most important traffic links in West London. It took them bloody ages because there were always only 3 people on site, out of which only one was working, two others were sunbathing all day twisting "GO/STOP" signs instead of using the lights.
The laziest, most overpaid scum works in road constructions.
Thank you for all advice, I reckon an extra half hour on top of the extra hour I've added on my journey time will give me scope for manouver.
Ps, I'm om a site visit to Deephams sewage treatment works, so at least I've got something to look forward too.
