Funny you should mention insurance. This happened today within 5 minutes.
Audi insurance due. Renewal was £500 so I called my insurance company and told then to get tapping on their computer as I wanted it lower. Came back with £430.
Went on GoCompare and got a quote for £400 (this never happens, normally my broker is alot cheaper).
Went on Quidco, and got a quote for £400 - £30 cashback = £370.

Just over £1,200 stings, thats working full time too! Still, the car makes up for the steep insurance. Oh, I'm 24, 1yr ncb and 1 fault claim 4 years ago.
Could one of the young people paying silly money please enlighten me as to how they do it? Surely £2-3k would be a significant chunk of any part time wage?

21 years old with 3 years NCB and 3 years experience. £650 on my Suzuki Ignis Sport. Not too shabby methinks. I've never had to pay over £900 for insurance, which is me doing quite well IMO.
Think the best way to get a real feel for the Raping industry is to have 2 or 3 set cars, and PH masses could do quotes with their details on a compare website, and report their findings. :P Could really defrentiate the different demographics to insurance.

29 with 3 points, 6 years no claims, no accidents on an 18 year old MR2 GT - £450. Can't really complain at that, I don't think it will ever be any cheaper as I plan to always own better and more powerful cars. I did mind when I was 18 paying £2000 on a 1.4 Clio that wasn't even insured in my name, but everyone has to go through it.

I saved up pretty much all my money from my part time job for about 7 months, except from £5 every week or week and a half, for petrol for my moped. Plus me and my dad bought an mr2 cheap (paid half each for it) and doubled our money on it. Then just doing odd things like fitting soundsystems for friends and stuff. I was practically sorted for insurance until my moped got stolen and as i was only 3rd party i lost all of my money (even the police basically robbed me aswell).
Now im not going to college this year, instead im going to get a full time job to pay for my insurance, and to hopefully set me up money wise for a little while.
