Changing a turbo on an Audi A3??
Discussion
Just doing a quick reccie on the feasibility of doing this as a DIY job.
Pal of mine has been told his 57 plate A3 (2.0 TDI) needs a new turbo as the vanes have 'stuck', or some such nonsense.
Is it something that can be done easy as a DIY job? I've got a reasonable collection of tools etc and we have the space to do it in. He's been quoted around a grand for it sorting out btw.

New (exchange) turbo will be about £1500 plus some gaskets/odds and sodds. Labour will be couple hours ish.
It's a job you take the cat off the car, then reach up from underneath towards the back of the engine. I've done many. Never as a PJ though. Too much grief on axle stands etc and access is a PITA. If you have access to a 2 poster ramp it's do-able.
