A 'What Car' Thread With A Difference
Discussion
It's my birthday today, and my amazing girlfriend has bought me a driving experience as my present.
Now my problem is how the hell do I decide on which car to drive?
The choices are:
Ferrari 430
Lambo Gallardo or Murcialago
Aston DB9 or V8 Vantage
Lady's and gents, what are your recommendations?

If forgot to add that they also had an Audi R8 but I decided that didn't even compete so was booted from the race early doors!
ETA Sawman, why would the Ferrari tempt you?
Well, Its a Ferrari for a start - I would imagine it is more focussed than the other twoETA Sawman, why would the Ferrari tempt you?
I've driven a recent aston, and didn't really care for it
Have a great day out what ever you choose, I mean they are all great cars!
My mate had a track day thing in the Murcialago , it was the Murcialago LP670-4 SV though. Still a great day.
If it isn't the SV one or LP640 then I would pick the Ferrari. If it is the LP640 I would go for Lambo. Reasons as follows
I think I would pick the Ferrari though as others have said it may not look as good as an Aston/Lambo but it will drive better than most according to reviews.
I would pick the LP640 as it sounds and looks great and can't be too bad in twisties even if it may feel a bit wide in the corners. I adore Lambo's
I hope I made the choice easier.

Depends on what type of experience you're hoping for, and which particular version of each car is on offer as there's a whole load of difference with older vs newer models, flappy paddles vs manual etc.
F430 - will have relatively delicate poise and point/squirt performance complete with high pitched F1 soundtrack buzzing behind you, and will seduce you into the whole Ferrari myth PR machine.
Gallardo - more brutal performance, more meaty noise, more of the good old fashioned supercar type experience.
Murcielago - serious thrust to reorganise your organs combined with a demonic sound track with enough bass to vibrate whats left of your innards. Not as directionally responsive as Gallardo, but very addictive and probably the best 'supercar' experience on offer.
DB9 - lots of power but smoothly delivered in a reserved svelte Bond'ish kinda way.
V8 - Mini-me DB9, but if it’s the 4.3 it will not have the performance its looks suggest, and will be a bit like wearing a Savile Row suite that you want others to think you look smart in, but not much else. I lived with one for 3 yrs and realised that looks aren't everything as it really didn’t perform, and I'm only talking about cars here ..
Me ? I'd go with the Murcielago. But what ever you choose, I'm sure you'll enjoy the day.

I done the R8 experience day 2 years ago. There was a choice out of 430, Gallardo and R8. Not too sure why I chose the R8 lol
I have the Gallardo and Ferrari 360 booked for September and lookinbg forward to it.
I'd love to drive a Murcielago but I got the Gallardo/360 experience on offer.
Have fun.

Sneaky birthday punt. Very clever. Now my problem is how the hell do I decide on which car to drive?

To own I'd have gone with the Vantage, but for a track day experience it'd have to be the Ferrari.
I think it’s the same one I did as the cars you mention are the same as the ones I had the choice of. Is it over York way somewhere? I can’t really remember as it was a couple of year ago. I think you'll find it’s a Gallardo rather than a Murcielago. I took the Gallardo, was fun but I got some miserable old t
t of an instructor that made me keep the car in 3rd gear all the way around the circuit. My Dad took the 430 and had a lot more fun as he go a more laid back instructor. Was still a fun day none the less.
The track was shaped like one of these btw -
