Anyone taken a private registration off a car recently?

Hi,

Im in the process of buying a car that has a private registration on, i am just wondering how long it has taken the DVLA recently to return the V5 back to you with the original registration number on?

Taking on average 3-4 weeks to get the new V5C at the moment...

That’s depressing

So if it was taken into the local DVLA office on the 21st the chances of it landing back before this Saturday are slim them.

Doesn't matter if taken to your local office - it still has to go to Swansea. Slim, but you never know...

Just done it with the gf's car, it took less than 3 weeks.

Took just over 2 weeks to get my bike's number plate changed back - this was a couple of months ago.

Weird, I must have been lucky, but I've done quite a bit of private plate too-ing and fro-ing recently on cars and motorbikes, and each time it's been a pretty seamless transaction and I've had documents back within the week.

Impressive for Taffs...

I did one end of May and the turnaround was 2.5 weeks.

My Father just did one and the turnaround was 2 weeks.

Sent my docs to Manchester office and within 1 week i had the MOT and tax disc, a further 10 days i had the V5.

I sold the car without the V5, and then it airrived, I sent the V5, filled in to the new owner, plus a cover letter/copy of sale receipt to the DVLA Swansea.
