What's your cruise control speed

Having done a few long journeys recently, and always put cruise control set at 88 units/hour in a Back to the Future style.

What do you set yours at on a long run?

75mph now but use to set it at 80mph

80mph as the law completely ignores you at that speed and you can relax. It also seems to correspond with 32mpg rather than into the twenties much above that in my daily driver, but why I care as I don't pay for the fuel, I'm not sure!

I used to be one of the 95 everywhere crowd when I was younger, but 80 does me now unless I'm having some fun.

I tend to not use the CC over 65-70mph and usually it will be a bit less, if I am taking my time and keeping up with the HGVs rather than trying to get somewhere quickly. If I am likely to be overtaking people and needing to change lanes and catching other stuff I prefer to just drive myself.

Mine is set at 65 as I feel it offers up a decent balance between economy and getting to where I'm going in a reasonable time. I find it very difficult to drive that slowly when not using cruise control though.

Edit: Am I the only one who gets thoroughly wound up when I find myself constantly overtaking muppets who then half a mile down the road come steaming past you only for you to overtake them again another mile down the road? It's unbelievable how poor some people are at maintaining a constant speed.

So you,re the one who goes round the M25 at 3am.Every time I cruise the car park I,m lucky to average 7.9MPH

I tend to do that on the runs where I'm paying for my own fuel. You get used to it when it's £20 cheaper over a week

Usually set at 80 for good, clear stretches. Interestingly the car will not let you set cruise control at over 85 leptons.

50 through average speed camera sections, rarely use it at any other time.

For me Cruise Control is one of those toys on the car I could quite happily live without and do live without on 2 of our 3 cars.

I always used to set mine at around 75-80, but in the lat few weeks, have been using it at 65 mph

My last couple of tanks of fuel gave a calculated 57.5mpg - Not bad for a 2.2 diesel with 185ps
