A mother has been given a twelve month community order after leaving her children in a "dangerously" hot car for 45 minutes while she went to a pawnbrokers.
Kelly Langham, 26, admitted leaving the three children - aged between two and eight - in the car on Chapel Street, Carlisle, while she went to Cash Generator.
Carlisle Magistrates' Court heard that a local resident raised the alarm after hearing the repeated sound of a car horn.
When Langham returned to the car, she told arresting officers she had only planned to be away for five minutes but had got caught up in a queue
In a police interview she said her oldest child had been feeling unwell so had stayed off school that day. She had also kept her other child off school.
Langham also told officers she had taken amphetamine earlier that morning and that she had become dependent on the drug.
She pleaded guilty to three counts of wilful child neglect and also one count possession of amphetamine.
She was told to go on a six month drug rehabilitation course.
Anyone else mad that she has been allowed to keep custody of these children?Kelly Langham, 26, admitted leaving the three children - aged between two and eight - in the car on Chapel Street, Carlisle, while she went to Cash Generator.

I'm not quite sure what her drug addiction has got to do with the story?
It's her excuse - it's not her fault, it's the drugs - drugs are bad mkaaay - they FORCE themselves upon her.
It's not the fact she has zero consideration for anyone but herself - no, it's the drugs...
This is all about the slimy shysters who make their living 'defending' these s
tholes - they stand there in expensive suits and shoes making up NONSENSE in an attempt to get their client the best possible result.IMO you should have to represent yourself in Court for petty crimes like this - put the near-illiterate mumbling a
holes into the dock and let them TRY to avoid the maximum possible sentence by not making themselves look exactly what they are - scum and detritus...Then come the media who will do ANYTHING to connect drugs (or failing that, video games) to every single possible story of woe in a DESPERATE attempt to get people to accept their "moral right wing" view that they know better than - well - everyone else...

My guess is a Mk 2 Mondeo with tape on the bumpers.
ALL Mk2 Mondeos have tape on the bumpers (there's even a good reason for it!!) - so that's a cheap jibe. It's like saying "a Honda Jazz in a sudden and tasteless colour" or "a Arab's car which is tacky as f
k" - there's nothing ELSE

Of course, it's the lawyer's fault. Obviously should you ever be in the dock I am sure you would welcome the opportunity to defend yourself and put your case across. No way would you use a lawyer as they are such slimeballs. It's not the fact she has zero consideration for anyone but herself - no, it's the drugs...

Whilst it may not be applicable in this particular case sometimes mitigation is really quite important. Not everyone who is found guilty of a crime is scum and detritus and occasionally it is extrememly useful to hear the defendant's side as well. After all, that's what the system is designed to allow.
