4x4 Hatch

What decent 4x4 hatches are there out there for less than about 3K, i,m looking for one but all I can come up with is the Daihatsu Sirion Rally4 but they are very rare, there are less than 50 left in this country if I remember rightly and none are for sale, so what other choices are there

Range Rover Classic, Jeep Cherokee.

Some of those cars are a bit big, i,m thinking corsa/clio type of size with a small engine for some fun over the next year or so especialy this winter so I can save for something a bit more rapido and get my first year NCB, I just realy fancy a 4wd

In that case the Ignis is about as small as you are going to get if you want good condition and reliability.

daihatsu cuore avantzano xxx or whatever is about as small a 4x4 as you can get... it's also an awesome car, they sell for about the £3k mark iirc

I've just picked up a 2000/W Audi A3 1.8T Quattro for less than £2k. 180bhp and sticks like the proverbial to a blanket.

Suzuki Jimny could be worth considering. It's a properly capable 4x4, but of modest proportions and with a fizzy little 1.3 engine.

The engine's not small but they are fairly economical for their age and eligible for classic insurance - the best B3-generation Audi Coupe Quattro can be bought for that kind of money and it's extremely unlikely to break down too. One of those 'keep indefinitely' cars built in that sweet-spot of the late '80s and early '90s where terminal, structure-destroying rot had been banished by galvanisation and engine longevity was ensured with widespread use of non-interference valvegear settings and very efficient fuel injection, and yet they came before the overly complicated electronics of the late '90s that are writing off many an otherwise-decent car.

I really like the idea of one of these being a go anywhere proper off roader but I,m not sure what the handling will be like with all this live axle business, not great i,m guessing I don't want it to just flop off the road when I get to a corner
