Anyone else 'touchy' about their car?

I went round for dinner with my parents last night and since there was a space on the driveway i stuck it next to, but away from, my dad's car - very close to the hedge. They normally insist i park off-street anyway because, it's well, what the neighbours do. As soon as i had parked up and gone inside, my dad is out the front with the hedge trimmer and pliers - basically trimming along the hedge right next to my car - with bits falling onto the lower part of my car bodywork. I didn't say anything but marched outside and removing the pile of foliage that was next to my car and dumped it elsewhere, which was noted.

What annoyed me more was that my mum said i was 'touchy' about my car and some cr8p about "well it's safer than a public car park!". TBH none of my family are what you would call Petrolheads - the words 'Detailing' or 'Zymol' don't feature in their vocabulary - but my sister did think it was a bit 'off' and he should have asked me to move my car.

and no - i haven't turned into a teenager

Wouldn't bother me, but plenty of people do have OCD about their cars so you're not alone.

Surely you wouldn't leave your own dad trimming a hedge with pliers? Buy him some secateurs and parking your fking car in the road next time.

Ok, I think i have 'Car OCD' but i wouldn't do any hedge surgery next to someone elses car - for example your nice special edition 111S!

I refuse to let anyone lean on my cars, even the slightly battle scared Landcruiser, I polish them to perfection all the time, I treat them with a lot of respect, I expect them to do the job I brought them for, and looking after them allows them too.

So yes, touchy about my cars very much so. Even down to the point no-one bar me and my other half will eat in them either!

Oh well, i guess that solves my OCD and love-life problems in one go then. I just need to grow some moobs, get the surgery done, and find a man who cares as much .. about that fine layer of clearcoat. Someone like LouWD40.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with what you say.

I'd be straight out there to move the car if that were me, but then I'd expect my parents to have a little bit more consideration for my property, after all they raised me to be considerate of others and their property.

I guess I'm touchy about my cars why beciase I have had to wokr hard to get them they have cost me a fair amount of money I look after them and I can not stand people who do not repect other peoples cars just becuase they:

A) Can not be bothered with thier own car

B) Are Jealous becuase I have nice cars

C) BOth of the above

That wouldn't give me enough extra height to reach the top, with the Elise.

Don't touch the glass! If they're misting here's a rag for the job, skin contact like wiping a hand across leaves a horrible mark.

Don't draw on any dirt! Moving that grit and grime around the paint with your finger, argh!

As has been said don't lean on it - see above plus the problem of some clothing having metal buttons or studs.

Bin your rubbish! Don't leave it in my car but don't be throwing it out the window either.

I think I'd have rather pointedly asked "would you like me to move my car?"

And if the answer was no I'd have replied "I think I will anyway" and shifted it.
