Anything better than Meguiars for tyre dressing?

Hi All,

My bottle of Meguiars Endurance Gel is nearly gone (and it has lasted ages) but wondered if there is anything better? The bottle says it lasts week abut it lasts about 4 days and I noticed some speckles of it on the bodywork whre its spun off the wheels.

I don't want a spray gun type.

Smells lovely, doesn't it?

I use the stuff our valeting chaps use, you paint it on with a paint brush.. Lasts bloody ages.

I also used to use Autoglym stuff, which lasts well. Is a squirty bottle but I used to just squirt it onto the cloth.

I use Autoglym rubber & vinyl stuff... spray it onto the tyres and leave it to dry on a bit before rubbing off with an old microfibre. It doesn't make the tyres GLOSS black but does keep them a nice darker colour and seems to last reasonably well

I am currently using armorall tyre shine. It comes in an orange plastic container.
I apply it with a sponge and it seems to last a good while without spraying onto the body work.

I use the Autoglym Tyre Shine trigger bottle and a sponge to do my tyres, looks great. I found the Meguiars very patchy when I used it, possibly the first Meguiars product that has disappointed me.

I use the Megs as it is bloody good. You need to apply it thin and well in advance of driving or as I've noticed too, it does tend to flick up the side of the car

A left-field shout for Wilkinsons own-brand tyre foam.

The out-laws bought some for me with a bunch of other car care stuff some years ago. It's the best dressing I've ever used. Gives a neat, matte finish and lasts for ages any the residue dries up of it's own accord.

£1.99 per tin. A veritable bargain given the price of 'detailing' products.

I hate tyre dressing ..

Personal choice is kiwi black shoe polish. It's matt black .. just as a tyre should be.

My personal preference is 303 Aerospace Protectant. Works well on all rubber and plastic trim, and leaves a nice matt black finish on tyres if you spray it on sparingly and spread with a sponge applicator.

Each to their own, but I find the Autoglym Tyre Dressing to be probably the worst product in the Autoglym range. It just seems an absolute pig to use, and a pig to achieve good results with.

I would recommend Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel.

It is very, very greasy and a bit messy to deal with. I apply it with a car wash sponge cut up (I wouldn't dare use a sponge to wash the car!) However, if you apply it, leave for a minute then buff off with a microfibre, you get really good results that last a good few weeks, and its very simple to use. If you want a glossier finish you can leave out the buffing step. A very small amount also goes a long way. I've probably used 1/3 of a bottle that I got around four years ago.

Oh, that does surprise me, I get great results every time. Like you say, each to their own.
