My dad has just got his car back from the garage where he has had his exhaust replaced. Car was picked up with the engine running. Went to start the car again and the key just clicks and has nothing. Car has been on charge but still no good!

Is the fuel pump priming?

If you're getting the click it could be that the battery has completely gone which charging won't resolve, or the starter / solenoid is gubbed.

Yeah starter motor was doing an awful lot of clicking but no turning. Voltage on the battery did read 13.5v before we started jumping it. Got it home and its hovering around 10/11v and charger says full charged/maintaining. Looks like a new battery!

10/11 is a flat battery. Does it have any dry cells? The charger won't charge a battery that has gone high resistance.

Cheers

Cells all topped up when truck was back and did not turn over that first time. Only topped up though they weren't exactly dry!

Cheers anyway all
